Mr. Rano and I want to make improvements
The Jakarta Government is about to revitalize Ragunan Zoo (TMR) in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
After inspecting Ragunan Zoo, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the revitalization is aimed at making the zoo more comfortable, safe, and attractive for visitors.
"Today I visited Ragunan Zoo because Mr. Rano and I want to make improvements, to make this zoo more attractive, more comfortable, safer, and of course to increase the number and quality of visitors," he expressed, Thursday (8/14).
According to him, there are several major issues that need to be addressed, ranging from minor matters to overall management. He highlighted the problem of car parking that often enters the zoo area and causes congestion.
To solve this, he asked the zoo management to immediately build a multi-story parking facility specifically for cars. Once this facility is available, private cars will be prohibited from entering the zoo area
They also plan to provide a circulating bus to make it easier for visitors to explore the 127-hectare area. He believes that Ragunan has great potential as one of the best flora and fauna places in Southeast Asia, but it has not been maximized yet.
"I asked them to fix the ticketing, parking, the facilities for people to look around, and improve the management," he added.
Pramono also believes that Ragunan can be an evening recreation choice for Jakartans.
"I'm thinking whether it's time to stay open until the evening as well. The place is better than Safari. Even closer," he exclaimed.
Regarding the revitalization budget, he explained that Ragunan Zoo, which has the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU), will be developed gradually. He will promote the utilization of partnerships with the private sector through CSR in providing facilities at Ragunan.
"I am also considering whether it is time for the KLB, SP3L, and others to be used to perfect this already good Ragunan," he explained.
Aside that, there will be adjustments to the entrance ticket prices. However, he emphasized that there will be different pricing schemes.
Special rates will be given to Jakarta residents. Meanwhile, different rates will be given to residents outside Jakarta and international tourists.
"So, for KJP it remains free, for Jakarta residents we offer a special price. But, for residents outside Jakarta who are visiting Jakarta and especially for foreigners, we will provide a different rate," he stated.
