The Jakarta Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering on August 17, 2025, to support the Heirloom Flag Parade, held in conjunction with the heirloom flag-raising and lowering ceremonies in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day.

"This traffic arrangement will be situational, depending on on-site conditions,"

The parade will take place in two sessions, at 07:30 AM-12:00 PM and 4:00-5:30 PM.

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, stated that traffic engineering will be enforced on several roads, namely Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran I–III, and the east side of Jalan Majapahit (north to south direction).

"This traffic arrangement will be situational, depending on on-site conditions, to ensure the smooth flow of the parade," he mentioned, Thursday (8/14).

Here are the alternative routes that will be in effect during the traffic engineering measures:

1. Jalan Veteran, Veteran II, Veteran III, the east side of Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, and intersection of Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur and Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara will be closed to motorized vehicles. Transjakarta buses passing Jalan Majapahit–Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat (east side) and Jalan Veteran III–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur will be rerouted via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda–Jalan Suryopranoto–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Cideng, and so on.

2. Traffic from Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur (southbound/Tugu Tani) heading west (Harmoni) will be redirected through Jalan Perwira–Jalan Katedral–Jalan Veteran–Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, and so on.

3. Traffic from the north (Jalan Hayam Wuruk/Kota) heading south (Blok M) will be rerouted via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda–Jalan Pos–Jalan Gedung Kesenian–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat–Jalan Taman Pejambon–Jalan Perpustakaan Nasional–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, and so on.

4. Traffic from Jalan Ir H Juanda towards south (Blok M) will be redirected through Jalan Suryopranoto–Jalan Tomang Raya–Jalan S. Parman–Jalan Gatot Subroto, and so on.

5. Traffic from Jalan Tomang Raya/Jalan Suryopranoto heading south (Blok M) will be redirected through Jalan Ir H Juanda–Jalan Pos–Jalan Gedung Kesenian–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat–Jalan Taman Pejambon–Jalan Perpustakaan Nasional–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, and so on.

6. Traffic from south (Blok M) to north (Harmoni) will be rerouted through Jalan Budi Kemuliaan–Jalan Abdul Muis–west side of Jalan Majapahit, and so on.

Syafrin mentioned that there are 8 parking locations available to support the parade with a capacity of 2,700 parking spaces for motorcycles and 2,115 for cars in IRTI Monas Parking Lot, Gambir Station, Lemhamnas, National Library, Telkom STO Gambir Building, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Dana Reksa Tower, and Indosat Building.

In addition, there will be changes in the operation patterns and route modifications for Transjakarta buses that intersect with the event areas, applied depending on the situation.

"We urge the public attending the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day to use public transportation, such as Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and commuter line to minimize traffic congestion around the event area," he emphasized.
