Personnel of Koja District's Water Resource Blue Taskforce dredge water channel on Jalan Walang Timur, RW 12, Tugu Utara Urban Village. 5,850 sacks of mud and rubbish sediment have been successfully cleaned from the channel.
The dredging has been running from July
Koja District's Water Resource Unit Head, Slamet Riyanto said the dredging is run according to local resident's request. This is because the thickness of the mud and rubbish sediment in the channel has reached around 50 centimeters.
"The dredging has been running from July. The personnel successfully collected 5,850 mud sacks," he said, Tuesday (8/12).
He added that the dredging, which is 80 centimeters wide and 130 centimeters deep, is carried out along 1,810 meters.
"Personnel successfully clean 60 to 80 sacks of mud and trash everyday. Dredging is still ongoing and is targeted for completion soon," he added.
He hopes that by increasing the channel's capacity, it will be more optimal in preventing flooding in the surrounding area, especially during heavy rain.
Meanwhile, one of local residents, Laras (32), appreciated and thanked the Blue Taskforce personnel for dredging the channel.
"The sedimentation is already thick enough to make the channel look dirty and clogged. Hopefully, this dredging can be completed soon, so that when heavy rains come, there will be no more flooding," she hoped.
