Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has officially launched the revitalization of Bendera Pusaka Park, which will integrate three parks in South Jakarta, namely Langsat Park, Ayodya Park, and Leuser Park.
"...the park will serve as part of our flood control efforts,"
The initiative aims to create a larger, multifunctional green open space for Jakarta residents, and to enhance flood control in the Blok M area and its surroundings.
"At the same time, the park will serve as part of our flood control efforts,"
Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (8/8).He emphasized that the park's development should be carried out properly and benefit the wider public. Spanning 5.6 hectares, Bendera Pusaka Park will feature public sports facilities such as badminton, tennis, and padel courts, along with a 1.2-kilometer jogging track. The project is targeted for completion by December 2025.
"This is part of my responsibility to make Jakarta better and more beautiful, with more green spaces. And once people see the finished park, I believe it will offer a real sense of comfort and enjoyment for all who visit,” he said.
Pramono also shared the reason behind the name "Bendera Pusaka Park", which was chosen to remind the public, particularly younger generations, that the nation's independence was hard-won.
"I wanted to create a thematic park with a historical message, so when people come here, they are reminded that our independence didn't come easily," he expressed.
