Residents living in RT 12/02, Kalisari Urban Village, Pasar Rebo Sub-district, East Jakarta, warmly welcome the plan to build a communal septic tank to curb open defecation (BABS).
This septic tank is important
RW 02 Chairman, Kalisari Urban Village, Budi Murdiansyah admitted, he was very grateful and thankful, as the issue of dumping waste into the river indiscriminately has finally been resolved.
"Very pleased, the residents certainly welcome the construction of this communal septic tank," he expressed, Tuesday (8/5).
Pasar Rebo Sub-district Head, Mujiono said, the communal septic tank would be built this week with funding and activities allocated by the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA).
"Yesterday, we held socialization with residents. This communal septic tank targets 12 households with 159 people," he explained.
According to him, residents actually already have bathroom facilities but do not have a septic tank. Therefore, feces are disposed of by building a channel to the river.
Flood Control Facilities, Clean Water, and Wastewater Management Section Head, John Tarigan said, the construction of the communal septic tank is targeted to be completed within 90 days.
"This septic tank is important for the health of residents and environmental preservation," he explained.
Kalisari Urban Village Head, Siti Nurhasanah admitted, there are still 246 households whose residents still need communal septic tanks.
"Hopefully, gradually, we can realize the Stop BABS program," he hoped.
