"We thank the government for quickly responding to our proposal. Now we feel more protected," he expressed, Monday (8/4).

"Locals need this seawall and it is also an aspiration conveyed during the Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) 2023," he explained.

He added, efforts to protect the land area are also carried out by intensifying mangrove planting.

"This seawall will also have a positive impact on the tourism sector on Kelapa Island," he asserted.

Seribu Island SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab explained, the seawall on the northern side of Kelapa Island was constructed with a length of approximately 830 meters.

"The current work has reached more than 160 meters or 20 percent. We'll keep monitoring its progress to ensure it is completed according to the target," he added.

He assessed, the seawall would later be connected to two access points as a ring road.

He added, another seawall was also slated to be built on Tidung and Lancang islands.

"This work spends Rp 82.48 billion," he stated.

He also urged locals to help care for and maintain the dam, especially its cleanliness.
