Hopefully, this momentum becomes a historic moment
This policy is in effect for a full day, from 12 AM to 11:59 PM.
Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo said, the policy was adopted as part of an effort to encourage community participation in an inclusive and environmentally friendly independence celebration.
"This is not just a symbolic warning, but also a genuine invitation to the community to participate in the independence celebration in an environmentally friendly and public-oriented manner," he expressed, Saturday (8/2).
He hoped that it could strengthen the culture of using public transportation in the capital. Besides being a form of national celebration, this program is also part of the Jakarta Government's long-term campaign to increase the number of public transportation users.
"Hopefully, this momentum becomes a historic moment that, with a spirit of nationalism, also demonstrates a shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable public transportation," he asserted.
Aside that, public transportation services that have been implemented from the beginning with a zero rupiah fare, such as Mikrotrans, Transjakarta Cares, and other social services, will keep operating as usual without fare changes. The Jakarta Government urges the public to use this policy responsibly and wisely.
"We invite all residents to enjoy this facility responsibly and to maintain mutual comfort while using public transportation," he stated.
