East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin is targeting the completion of the construction of communal septic tanks integrated with appropriate biogas technology and household scale in 10 locations within one month.

Munjirin explained the 10 locations are Bidara Cina, Rawa Bunga, Rambutan, Pekayon, Pinang Ranti, Cipinang Melayu, Penggilingan, Kayu Manis, Cipinang, and Klender Urban Villages.

"The existence of ten septic tank locations can solve open defecation (BABS) in 921 families or around 2,936 people," he explained, Monday (7/28).

Munjirin said that the construction of the septic tank is realized through assistance from the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program and self-help.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Herwin Meifendy stated as many as 28 of the 65 urban villages have now been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) or BABS.

According to him, the communal septic tank construction at Bidara Cina Flat targets 688 families or 2,064 people, Rawa Bunga Urban Village 37 families or 77 people, and in Rambutan Urban Village targets 45 families or 227 people.

Then in Pekayon Urban Village targets 58 families or 189 people; Pinang Ranti and Cipinang Melayu target 10 families or 40 people, and Penggilingan urban Village target 13 families or 54 people.

"Kayumanis Urban Village targets 10 families or 45 people; Cipinang Urban Village targets nine families or 36 people, and Klender Urban Village targets 51 families or 239 people," he stated.
