PT MRT Jakarta and Sinar Mas Land through PT Bumi Serpong Damai, agreed to explore collaboration regarding the development of the MRT network from Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, to Serpong, South Tangerang.

This agreement was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by PT MRT Jakarta's Business Development Director, Farchad Mahfud; and Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development CEO at Sinar Mas Land, Irawan Harahap; and Lifestyle Business CEO at Sinar Mas Land, Herry Santoso.
Then the signing was also witnessed by Banten Deputy Governor, Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah; Jakarta BUMD Development Agency Head, Syaefuloh Hidayat; South Tangerang Mayor, Benyamin Davnie; PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Tuhiyat; and PT Bumi Serpong Damai Director, Christopher Siswanto.
This cooperation mainly involves the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of a mass rapid transit line to South Tangerang, including route identification, demand analysis, investment costs, operational costs, economic and business feasibility, as well as institutional and regulatory aspects. This collaboration will last for the next two years.
PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Tuhiyat said, this MoU signing is a historic moment for the development of modern urban railway systems in Indonesia.
He added, PT MRT Jakarta continually strives to provide the best service for the community through the expansion of the MRT network to realize an integrated and sustainable public transportation future for Indonesia.
"This collaboration also demonstrates that efforts to provide the best services for the community can be conducted together with various parties, including the private sector," he expressed, Friday (7/25).
He explained, the results of this study will be conveyed to the government as the policymaker in determining alternative solutions and policies related to the development of the national modern urban railway system.
Tuhiyat asserted that MRT Jakarta, as the operating partner, consistently supports and realizes the government's spirit of providing modern public transportation services to the community.
"This step will expand the reach of MRT Jakarta's services, which are already known as one of the internationally standard train operators, thus they can be enjoyed by the communities in the surrounding cities of Jakarta," he explained.
Strategic Development and Assets Deputy Group CEO at Sinar Mas Land, Herry Hendarta, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with MRT Jakarta on this development study.
With the increasing population and economic activity in Serpong and its surroundings, the presence of theA MRT in this area will be a game changer in improving accessibility and the quality of life for the people in South Tangerang City, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, and the Banten Raya region, while also enriching transportation options that are increasingly comfortable for the community.
"Of the estimated 100,000 daily users of the MRT service, it is projected that 25 percent can be served through the existing stations in BSD City," he stated.
