Jakarta City Council Commission A Member, Kevin Wu supports Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's initiative to promote the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in urban governance.
The ultimate goal is clearly to make Jakarta a global city
This innovation is deemed strategic in addressing various challenges for Jakarta to become a modern and efficient global city.
"This aims to address traffic congestion, floods, social assistance distribution, and administrative efficiency in population records as progressive steps that need to be encouraged," he expressed, Thursday (7/25).
He emphasized the importance of efficient planning and cross-agency collaboration in its implementation. He reminds that the spirit of innovation should not lead to budget duplication, such as procurement of infrastructure or servers by each department separately.
He also encouraged that systems like the Intelligent Traffic Control System (ITCS) and surveillance cameras should not only be used for traffic management. This technology can be developed to support public order, environmental security, and disaster management.
"In England, street cameras can detect the faces of criminals. Such functionality can be implemented cross-functionally in Jakarta. One system, many benefits," he explained.
Aside that, he emphasized the importance of an adaptive, accountable, and service-oriented bureaucratic culture transformation. He stated that transparency in data usage, budget accountability, and improvements in digital literacy among civil servants must become an integral part of this digital transformation.
"The ultimate goal is clearly to make Jakarta a global city that is not only technologically advanced but also efficient, inclusive, and has a tangible impact on its residents," he stated.
