Cilincing Water Resources (SDA) Unit is currently repairing the retaining wall of Gubug Genteng connecting (Phb) channel in Kampung Kandang, RT 07/04, Semper Barat Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta, with progress reaching 75 percent.
"Hopefully, once completed, the wall will help the channel function more effectively in preventing floods,"
Cilincing SDA Unit Head, Ichsan, stated that the work was carried out to follow up a proposal submitted during the recess of a Jakarta Council (DPRD) member.
"The wall collapsed due to its age and tree roots," he informed, Thursday (7/24).
The retaining wall, measuring 45 meters long and 1.4 meter high, has been under repair since early July by 9 personnel.
"Repair is done manually using river stones and dolken wood in the initial phase, followed by concrete casting and plastering," he explained.
This repair work is expected to be completed by the end of July or next week.
"We're almost done.
Hopefully, once completed, the wall will help the channel function more effectively in preventing floods," he said.On the other hand, a local resident, Akbar (48), expressed his gratitude for the repair efforts, saying the damage could have worsened and endangered residents if not addressed quickly.
"The blue troop team worked fast. Hopefully, the repair will be completed soon to prevent flooding and make our area look neat again," he said.
