Residents of Cideng Urban Village, Central Jakarta, which were represented by FKDM, LMK, and public figures, as well as urban village apparatuses , were educated about disaster handling, Wednesday (7/23).

The socialization and education was run thanks to collaboration of Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) with Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross and Cideng Urban Village.

Cideng Urban Village Head, Agus Aripianto, said the 40 participants attending the socialization are volunteer of disaster handling from 10 RWs.

"Hopefully they will spread today's education widely," he said.

Meanwhile, Jakarta BPBD's Head of Sub-group of Community and Organization Empowerment Basuki Rahmat, explained community development and capacity building related to disaster management are crucial. Studies have identified at least 10 potential disasters in Jakarta.

"Besides floods and fires, there is the potential for other disasters, such as earthquakes, disease outbreaks, technological failures, and others. Therefore, Jakarta residents must be aware of these risks," he added.

He also appreciated Cideng residents for enthusiastically attending the socialization.

"We also invite PMI to participate in first aid training, which aims to enable the community to take initial action in the event of an emergency until help arrives," he admitted.
