Jakarta City Council's Commission A Member, Kevin Wu supports the Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Agency to establish Fire Handling Task Force in 267 urban villages in Jakarta.
It's a positive way
However, he reminded that the formation of this Task Force should not stop at an inauguration or mere ceremonial activities. He emphasized that the Task Force must be truly present and actively involved in the community.
"Most importantly, this Task Force is present and works in real life among the residents, providing education, patrols, and early detection before a fire occurs," he said, Monday (7/21).
Furthermore, Kevin assessed that synergy between the Task Force and social structures such as RW, RT, and youth organizations (Karang Taruna) is still needed to optimize this program.
"Fire prevention is not a one-person task. Collaboration between the government, the community, and regional authorities is essential. We need a participatory and transparent prevention model," he continued.
Kevin also stated that he frequently receives complaints from residents regarding the lack of access to information on disaster management. Therefore, he encouraged the Task Force to also be utilized as an information channel to directly reach the public.
"We want all programs, including the formation of this Task Force, to be implemented openly and to encourage active public participation," he stated.
