The Jakarta Provincial Government will launch a new Transjakarta route connecting two tourist destinations in the city, namely Blok M and Ancol. This route is expected to enhance interregional connectivity while supporting the mobility of residents and tourists.
"Especially now that Persija has its home base there,"
Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno stated that the new route is still being evaluated and it is uncertain whether it will be operational in July 2025.
"Not necessarily this month. But considering Persija has started playing in the league, it's likely to open around August," he stated, Saturday (7/19).
Rano explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government and Transjakarta are currently preparing all technicall aspects related to the route's opening, including route design and infrastructure adjustments on the ground.
According to him, traffic conditions around Ancol are a major consideration, especially with the ongoing construction of Harbour Road II Toll Road Phase 2B on Jalan RE Martadinata and Jalan Lodan Raya, North Jakarta.
"We don't want to be sporadic. We know that Ancol area is under construction, for example on Jalan RE Martadinata. We need to carefully design the route first. But clearly, this will be a focus," he asserted.
He noted that Transjakarta Blok M-Ancol route will also support residents accessing the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), which is noe the home base of Persija Jakarta.
"Especially now that Persija has its home base there," he added.
To show support for Persija, Rano mentioned that Transjakarta has branded 20 buses with the club's identity.
"We have dedicated 20 branded Persija buses, and we need to manage that properly," he said.
