Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's attendance at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) at the United Nations Headquarters was not only an invitation as a speaker, but also to explore sister city cooperation with New York.
Jakarta must become a global city
"The Governor was not only invited as a speaker, but also to meet with Governor and Mayor of New York to discuss sister city cooperation," he said, Tuesday (7/15).
Rano added that the discussion topics on climate change and the global city development system presented by Governor Pramono Anung at the UN forum are part of Jakarta's efforts to improve its ranking towards the top 50 global cities in the world.
Rano explained that the Governor was also accompanied by Head of Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) Atika Nur Rahmania, Head of the Regional Head Bureau (KDH) Fanny Pandjaitan and the Head of the Regional Cooperation Burea (KSD) of the Regional Secretariat, Marulina Dewi.
Rano stated that being invited and presenting as a speaker at a UN forum is not uncommon. Therefore, Rano confirmed that the Jakarta Governor and his entourage's trip was with a mission and goal of improving Jakarta's quality.
"Jakarta must become a global city. Therefore, Jakarta enters its own global center," he stated.
