The Jakarta Environmental Agency ensures that the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant in Rorotan is ready to operate gradually.

We conduct the entire repair process comprehensively

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung directed the enhancement of environmental control facilities after reviewing the initial commissioning process in March.

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said, a comprehensive evaluation had been conducted, including additional essential facilities to ensure Rorotan RDF Plant operates safely while minimizing negative environmental impacts.

"We conduct the entire repair process comprehensively, including adding three deodorizer units to control potential odors in the processing area, product warehouse, and residue area. This is important to ensure that the operation of this facility doesn't disturb the comfort of the surrounding residents," he expressed, Monday (7/14).

His agency had also completed the exhaust gas control system, including the installation of a baghouse filter to filter dust particles, a second wet scrubber to remove gas pollutants, a wet electrostatic precipitator to capture fine particles and mist in the exhaust gases, and activated carbon equipment capable of absorbing hazardous chemical compounds in the exhaust gases.

He explained, the addition of a second induced draft fan was also done to optimize the flow of gases toward the chimney.

"We have also modified two existing devices, namely the wet scrubber and the chimney, to ensure that the emissions released into the air are truly safe and meet environmental quality standards," he explained.

This effort was done as a form of the Environmental Agency's commitment to improving waste management quality in Jakarta to be modern, safe, efficient, sustainable, and not to cause any impact on the community.

"RDF Plant Rorotan is a manifestation of Jakarta's transition towards more environmentally friendly waste management. Hopefully, through the strengthened control system, it will operate optimally and serve as an example of modern urban waste management in Indonesia," he stated.
