PT Transjakarta planted 15,000 mangrove seedlings on Kelapa Island, Seribu Islands, Friday (7/4). This planting was attended by Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung.

We're committed to continuously creating a clean environment

Transjakarta Director President, Welfizon Yuza said, this mangrove planting is part of a healthy lifestyle following the pillars of cleanliness, empowerment, and sustainability.

"We're committed to continuously creating a clean environment, both in the short term and the long term like this," he expressed, Saturday (7/12).

He explained, this is part of the effort to create a blue carbon ecosystem. The presence of mangroves can absorb ten times more emissions than regular forests, thereby helping to reduce heat and pollution in Jakarta.

He added, 15,000 mangrove seedlings planted in Seribu Islands are the result of collaboration between them, partners, customers, and the community.

"This is a joint effort to provide clean air and support Indonesia's Net Zero Emission target," he added.

Since 2023 until today, they had planted 50,815 mangrove seedlings. Hopefully, this program could continue to run well through close collaboration between Transjakarta, partners, and all loyal customers.

"With a total of 50,815 mangroves, it is capable of absorbing 1.7 million kilograms of carbon dioxide over a 20-year period. In the future, this program will continue with a target of 100,000 mangroves by Jakarta's 500th anniversary in 2027," he explained.

As information, the Transjakarta partners participating in this activity included Bank Jakarta, PT Mayasari Bakti, PT Mobilindo Armada Cemerlang (APM Zhongtong), and PT Kendaraan Listrik Indonesia.

Also PT Citrakarya Pranata (APM Mercy), PT Sinarjaya Megahlanggeng, PT BPW Pahala Kencana, dan PT Lestarisurya Gemapersada.

Transjakarta customers can also participate in mangrove planting by scanning the barcode available at all Transjakarta shelters. With Rp 20,000, they can contribute to turning the skies and seas of Jakarta green.
