The Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) keeps intensifying the dredging of mud deposits at six locations along the Ciliwung River.
Mud excavated at several points with a depth of about two to three meters
Central Jakarta Drainage Maintenance Section Head, Citrin Indriati said, the dredging location was focused on the Pasar Baru segment, starting from Jalan Juanda to the Pasar Baru Pedestrian Bridge (JPO), and continues up to the Fountain along 500 meters.
Then also from Jembatan Merah Bridge to Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta, spanning 350 meters. Next, from Manggarai area to West Flood Canal (KBB), divided into two segments: Ciliwung River flow from Manggarai to Jalan Sukabumi, Menteng Tunggulun, spanning 800 meters.
And dredging in the Ciluwung River on Jalan Tenaga Listrik, Tanah Abang to Jalan KS Tubun leading to the KBB flow.
Lastly, dredging from Harmoni Traffic Light to Jalan Veteran along 450 meters and behind TNI Makostrad, spanning 150 meters.
"Mud excavated at several points with a depth of about two to three meters," she expressed, Friday (7/11).
She assessed, this was done to increase the capacity of the Ciliwung River, which flows through Central Jakarta, thus it could accommodate rainwater runoff from residential channels and connecting roads.
To support the dredging, dozens of heavy equipment and dump trucks were sent to the work site.
"The mud is transported at night as some dredging points are active during office hours," she said.
