I also want to apologize to those affected
He made the statement while inspecting the flood points at Ciliwung River Inspection Embankment, Rajawati, South Jakarta, Tuesday (7/8).
"Specifically, I also want to apologize to those affected. Because there are still some impacted by the flood from the day before, including in this area," he expressed.
He went on to say that the Jakarta Government would keep working hard to handle and anticipate the impact of floods not to harm residents in the future. He emphasized, this flood disaster was not something planned.
"I just received a report that the Head of SDA Agency apologized to the residents this morning. We shouldn't be ashamed to apologize as it's not something we planned," he expressed.
He also requested the Jakarta Public Works Agency and SDA Agency to coordinate in addressing blockages along the water channels in Jakarta.
On that occasion, he announced that the location determination for the Ciliwung River normalization project has been signed. Out of 14 location determinations, four had been signed, namely two locations in South Jakarta and two in East Jakarta.
He also urged the ATR-BPN Ministry together with the Jakarta Government to promptly conduct land acquisition. In its execution, he emphasized the importance of a persuasive approach to the community.
"So, the approach isn't about using power. I don't want to do that," he explained.
Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Agustin Ningrum explained, land payment for the Ciliwung normalization project is likely to be made next month. They are now waiting for Public Works Ministry to start the physical work.
"We are just waiting for the Ministry to carry out the physical work," she stated.
