Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that until Monday (7/7), 40 RTs and three roads were still flooded after heavy rains flushed Jakarta last week.
Floods are targeted to recede quickly
Floods hit Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with water levels vary between 30 to 150 centimeters.
"This is generally due to the high rainfall and the overflow of Ciliwung River, Angke River, Krukut River, to Pesanggrahan River," stated Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Isnawa Adji.
Aside that, there were around 350 people fled in a number of refugee points in mosques, musalas, schools, to emergency tents.
He explained, personnel had been deployed to monitor and overcome floods, including suctioning water and ensuring optimal functional channels.
"Floods are targeted to recede quickly. We keep coordinating with the agencies Water Resources, Bina Marga, Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat), as well as local urban village and sub -district heads. Logistical aid for flood victims are also being processed," he explained.
So, residents are urged to remain vigilant of the potential for aftershocks and immediately contact emergency services 112 if need help. This service is up to 24 hours.
