Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung conveyed the readiness of the Jakarta Provincial Government to face this year's dry season. He admitted that he had a discussion with Head of Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding the dry season forecast in Jakarta and its impacts.
"...the Jakarta Government is ready to anticipate it,"
"I have discussed with Head of BMKG, and she also sent me a more detailed prediction. Therefore, the Jakarta Government is ready to anticipate it," he stated at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday (6/30).
In response to the dry season forecast, which may be delayed and shorter in duration, Pramono emphasized that the city has taken anticipatory measures, one of them is preparing more than 500 pumps.
Besides, he also ensured that the food supply system in Jakarta is functioning well.
According to him, unexpected weather dynamics such as heavy rainfall outside Jakarta have had a significant impact to the city, for example a severe traffic congestion in West Jakarta.
"The impact ends up in Jakarta, such as in West Jakarta, where very severe traffic congestion occurred," he mentioned.
Therefore, the Jakarta Government continues to communicate with related parties to anticipate and address the impacts of heavy rainfall.
He also gave another example of temporary flooding in South Jakarta a few days ago, which required quick and responsive handling.
"Therefore, the handling must truly be done moment by moment, time by time," he said.
