is also important for educating the community about land utilization. Hopefully, what we plant this morning can grow and bear good fruit so that the results can be enjoyed together," he said, at the simultaneous planting location of Walkot Farm North Jakarta, Friday (6/13).He stated that if farmers encounter obstacles, they should immediately report to the Food Security, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Executing Unit in their respective sub-districts.
"Hope this program will be sustainable and become a planting movement for the people of North Jakarta. Let's wait for the harvest together later," he hoped.
North Jakarta TP PKK Chair, Firda Hendra admitted, she strongly supports this activity for the creation of food security, while also realizing the greening program in North Jakarta.
"Please, PKK mothers and activists to take care of and nurture these corn and melon plants, thus we can harvest them together later," she stressed.
North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto explained today's simultaneous planting is a routine agenda every three months involving urban farming enthusiasts, farmer groups, RPTRA caretakers, and PKK cadres in six sub-districts.
"This is done in 53 planting locations from 31 urban villages throughout North Jakarta, with a total planting area of approximately 10,000 square meters. We planted sticky corn, sweet corn, rainbow corn, and melons," he explained.
His sub-agency distributed supporting materials in the form of 100 sachets (15,000 seeds) of glutinous corn and sweet corn, 73 sachets (1,000 seeds) of melon, and NPK fertilizer (65 kg)
"Includes compost fertilizer from the North Jakarta Environment Agency," he explained.
He assessed these melons and corns could become icons of North Jakarta, as these plants is able to adapt to high temperature or hot environments. Moreover, the harvest period for melons and corns is also not long and the corn harvest period is only 75 days, while for melons is 90 days.
"Hopefully, this action can cultivate the interest in planting among the community. Moreover, they will also receive urban farming training from us," he hoped.
