Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, led the commemoration ceremony of Pancasila Birth Day at the City Hall yard, Monday (6/2). The ceremony was also attended by Governor Pramono Anung.

We have to reflect once again that Pancasila is the big house for Indonesia's diversity

Rano stated the ceremony held simultaneously today is an instruction from the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), as June 1 falls on a Sunday and is still during a long holiday.

"This is a major reminder that every June 1st is celebrated as the birthday of Pancasila. It is commemorated throughout Indonesia and coincides on the same date, which is a Monday," he expressed, after the ceremony.

Reading the BPIP Head's speech, he emphasized that the commemoration of Pancasila Birth Day is not only aimed at remembering the foundational principles of the state but also reaffirming the commitment to the noble values that are the foundation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

He explained Pancasila is not just a historical document or a normative text written in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution. Pancasila is the soul of the nation, a guide for communal living, and a guiding star in realizing the ideals of an independent, united, sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.

"In the spirit of strengthening the ideology of Pancasila, we have to reflect once again that Pancasila is the big house for Indonesia's diversity," he stressed.

He added, in the context of current national development, the Government has established Asta Cita as the eight priority agendas towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

One of the most fundamental aspects of Asta Cita is to strengthen the ideology of Pancasila, democracy, and human rights. The reason Pancasila is prioritized is to safeguard the ideology so that the journey towards national progress is not easily shaken.

"Economic progress without the foundation of Pancasila values has the potential to create inequality, and technological advancement without the moral guidance of Pancasila can lead the nation into dehumanization," he concluded.

In an era of increasingly complex globalization and digitalization, the challenges to Pancasila have become more evident. The spread of extreme ideologies, radicalism, intolerance, and disinformation threatens the social cohesion of the nation.

Therefore, through Asta Cita, he hopes that all parties are called to revitalize the values of Pancasila in all dimensions of life, from education, bureaucracy, economy, to digital spaces.

The mention of strengthening the Pancasila ideology means reaffirming that national development must always be rooted in the values of divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice.

"Let us continue to work together, uphold unity, respect differences, and instill the values of Pancasila in every aspect of life. Make Pancasila a source of inspiration in creating, nation-building, and statehood," he closed.
