The Jakarta Government has established a strategic partnership with Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea.
We must support this move
This cooperation includes the exchange of policies and administrative expertise, cultural, economic, and industrial exchanges, as well as the development of education and youth sectors.
Jakarta City Council Commission B Member, Wa Ode Herlina, welcomed the cooperation positively.
"This initiative to collaborate with the city of Chungcheongnam-do, Korea, is very positive. We must support this move," she expressed, Friday (5/30).
According to her, the expertise possessed by Chungcheongnam-do could be utilized to expedite various improvements in Jakarta. Many aspects need to be improved for Jakarta to rise in rank as a global city.
"In terms of environmental feasibility for living for instance, Jakarta must be free from the threats of flooding, congestion, and air pollution. Additionally, arts and culture must also thrive within the community," she explained.
She emphasized the need for a change in work orientation under the Jakarta Government, especially regarding fast and efficient public services through the use of digital technology.
"In all aspects, Jakarta must also learn from cities that have already advanced," she added.
As information, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung invited the Chungcheongnam-do Governor to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, culture, friendship, sports, and student exchanges. He believes that this partnership will bring significant benefits for the progress and welfare of both regions.
Meanwhile, the Chungcheongnam-do Governor supports Jakarta's efforts to become one of the 20 major cities in the world, through enhancing international competitiveness, which is expected to promote stronger economic cooperation and policies between the two regions.
