Jakarta City Council's Commission B Vice Chairman, Wahyu Dewanto supports the opening of Transjabodetabek PIK 2-Blok M route of T31.

He hopes this new route can be an alternative transportation for residents, while reducing dependence on private vehicles which result in traffic jams.

According to Wahyu, this new route needs to be socialized massively so that people are more aware and interested in switching to public transportation.

"It would be good if this new route is socialized massively and equipped with facilities and instructions for passengers. It aims to gain more passengers," he said, Thursday (5/22).

He also encouraged the active involvement of local government officials, from mayors to urban village heads, in socializing this service.

"The socialization may also inform the interesting objects on its corridors," he added.

For maximum services, he appealed PT Transjakarta to routinely evaluate the operational.

Another Commission Member, Muhammad Al Fatih also supported this new route. He assessed that this policy shows Jakarta Provincial Government commitment in handling traffic congestion and reducing carbon emission in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

"I see that this policy is in line with the concept of Java Island agglomeration, where inter-regional connectivity is key to building an efficient and integrated transportation system. Jakarta, as the center of national economic activity, can not stand alone," he stated.

He also appealed Jakarta Provincial Government to strengthen the collaboration with surrounding and central governments in planning route, integrating transportation, or subsidy scheme.

"Hopefully the public will have a choice of safe, comfortable and efficient transportation, and encourage a real shift from private vehicles to public transportation," he added.
