Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has declared his commitment to elevate the standards of Regional General Hospitals (RSUDs) in Jakarta to international-level hospitals.
"...they can provide better and internationally-standard services,"
This initiative was taken to improve the quality of health services and to shift public perception regarding RSUDs.
"Why do I want to change? Actually, it is not just about changing, but also about fostering the spirit that they can provide better and internationally-standard services," said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, on Thursday (5/20).
He gave an example of RSUD Tarakan, which has more comprehensive facilities compared to other leading private hospitals in Jakarta. However, the image of using the name 'regional' in RSUD is considered less appealing to the public.
"I have seen it myself. Actually, the facilities at RSUD Tarakan are better, more complete. But the impression, because it uses a regional name, is that it's less marketable," he explained.
Therefore, he plans to rename RSUD Tarakan to make it more attractive. Moreover, efforts to improve health services will be also implemented in other hospitals, such as RSUD Cengkareng, RSUD Pasar Minggu, and RSUD Koja.
He mentioned that Jakarta currently has 31 type A hospitalas equipped with comprehensive medical equipment and personnel. However, he believes that type C and type D hospitals still require improvements to better serve the residents.
"For type C hospital, like in Tanah Abang, type D, and others, improvements need to be made," he asserted.
