As many as 500 families from five urban villages in Central Jakarta participate in first stage of Inisiasi Keluarga Ringkas Aksara (IKRA) 2025 program which is initiated by Library and Archive Sub-agency.

Acting Central Jakarta Library and Archive Sub-agency Head, Wahyu Prabowo, explained first stage of IKRA is held in Cideng, Duri Pulo, Kebon Kelapa, Petojo Selatan, and Petojo Utara Urban Villages from May 19-25.
"The program is participated by 500 families from five urban villages. The books have also been distributed to the locations," he explained, Monday (5/19).
He added that IKRA is a family-based literacy program that emphasizes three basic skills, namely reading, writing, and retelling.
"This activity is designed to encourage parent and child involvement in literacy activities at home, making reading a part of everyday life and family culture," he added.
Participating families are invited to read books every day at the same time and the children are asked to retell the reading in oral and written form and to document the activities.
There will be 15 best participants from each urban village to get a charter and goodie bag. They also have chance to participate in a doorprize for one bicycle.
"IKRA is part of our efforts to expand the impact of literacy to the family level, in order to form a reading culture," he stated.
