Some 107 vehicles underwent an emissions test on Thursday (5/15) in an effort to reduce air pollution in South Jakarta

Six did not pas the test and 98 passed the test

Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section Head, Tuty Ernawati expressed the 107 vehicles that undergo the test consisted of 34 petrol-powered cars, six diesel-powered units, and 67 motorbikes.

"Six did not pas the test and 101 passed the test," she expressed, Friday (5/16).

She explained this emission test is a concrete step in implementing Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 66/2020 on motor vehicle exhaust and efforts to reduce air pollution. Hence, vehicles that fail the test must undergo engine repairs.

"If this is done regularly, we can reduce air pollution caused by vehicle exhaust," she explained.

One of the motorists, Soleh (27) admitted he intentionally took this free emissions test to find out if his bike is roadworthy or not, as the motorcycle he owns was serviced just a few months ago.

I want to know the condition of my motorcycle. Alhamdulillah (Thank God), my bike passed the test," he stated.
