Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, expressed his commitment to improving 55 slum neighborhoods (RWs) in Jakarta. He made this statement when his visited to RW 01, Menteng Urban Village, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/15).

He highlighted the importance of improving basic infrastructure such as communal toilets, neighborhood halls, and irrigation channels. With these improvements in basic residential infrastructure, it is hoped that the community could live comfortably and safely.

"Jakarta Government is seriously and sincerely seeking to make improvements. There are 55 neighborhood units, I apologize, need improvement," he explained.

During this visit, he also announced plans to build a new neighborhood hall. The hall would be built on land owned by the residents and is expected to serve as a place for the community to engage in activities together.

He also prioritized the installation of integrated CCTV to enhance environmental security. In the future, the procurement of CCTV would no longer be done by the Jakarta Government, but utilize existing CCTV.

"But, we will rent as it is much cheaper now compared to buying new," he added.

He hoped the existing CCTV could detect various crimes occurring in the community. Besides basic infrastructure improvements, the Jakarta Government would also build sports facilities, improve religious facilities, and arrange residents' business places.

"Mr. Basri Baco just requested for a public park to be created here. I've already asked the Development Assistant to find a suitable land," he added.

Pramono's plan to fix slum neighborhoods received appreciation from Jakarta City Council Vice Chairman, Basri Baco.

"Thank you for the efforts of the programs, especially in densely populated or slum areas like this," he stated.
