PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya signed a contract farming collaboration with the Rorotan Jaya Farmers Group on a 235-hectare land in Rorotan, North Jakarta.
Hope Rorotan can become an educational area
The signing was witnessed by
Economy and Finance Assistant, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta BUMD Guidance Agency Head, Syaefuloh Hidayat; and Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Hasudungan A Sidabalok.
This was marked by the simultaneous planting of the superior rice variety Inpari 32 and the handover of assistance in the form of five units of sprayers and 750 kilograms of fertilizer by the Jakarta Government to the Rorotan Jaya Farmer Group.
According to Eliawati, this contract farming cooperation was made following the directive of the President and Jakarta Governor to achieve food self-sufficiency through intensification and extensification programs.
"As a follow-up, the Jakarta Government is working to intensify the agricultural land in Jakarta through the KPKP Agency," she expressed, Monday (5/12).
She explained Jakarta, as the capital city, has a total area of 414 hectares of rice fields in three regions, namely North Jakarta, which is the largest at 341 hectares, West Jakarta at 45 hectares, and East Jakarta at 28 hectares.
Regarding the rice fields that still exist in Jakarta, these can be developed for agro-tourism, especially since the Education Agency (Disdik) has suggested that school children should be allowed to choose extracurricular activities related to the environment.
"The Jakarta Government expresses gratitude for the cooperation that has been made and will continue in the future. Hopefully, it can provide a food supply guarantee for Jakarta and Gapoktan Rorotan Jaya can obtain market certainty in terms of price and sales partners," she explained.
This cooperation received appreciation from Jakarta BUMD Development Agency Head, Syaefuloh Hidayat and Rorotan farmers.
"Insya Allah (God willing), this cooperation will be part of the efforts to maintain food security in Jakarta. Hope it can increase productivity with a target of 7 tons per hectare," she added.
At the same time, the Jakarta KPKP Agency and Food Station also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Development of a Sustainable Food Ecosystem. One of the scopes of their collaboration is to optimize the assets owned by the Jakarta Government that can be used as agricultural land.
PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya President Director, Karyawan Gunarso hoped that this cooperatiob could enhance the sustainability of food security by boosting agricultural productivity and providing price certainty for farmers, as all harvests would eventually be absorbed by Food Station.
"Hope Rorotan can become an educational area for rice farming for schoolchildren, so they don't have to go far to see the rice cultivation process outside of Jakarta," he closed.
