On Monday (5/12), Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno attended the Tri Suci Waisak 2569 TB celebration at Wihara Ekayana Arama on Jalan Mangga 2, RT 08/08, Duri Kepa Urban Village, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
"The Jakarta Government provides attention and support to all religious communities,"
Besides delivering a speech on behalf of Jakarta Governor, Rano also signed a granite inscription bearing a message of goodwill for the Buddhist community.
"On behalf of Jakarta Government, I extend my greetings for Tri Suci Waisak to all Buddhists celebrating, both in Jakarta and throughout Indonesia," he said on Monday (5/12).
He hoped that Buddhists would reflect on the significance of Tri Suci Waisak by practicing the values of Dharma in their work and daily lives.
He also hoped that the spirit of Vesak would convey a message of peace, fostering unity and harmony among religious communities, enabling them to live together peacefully and tolerantly amidst Jakarta's diversity.
Rano mentioned that his presence at Wihara Ekayana Arama was in response to special assignment from Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. He was also tasked with signing the goodwill inscription prepared by the temple's management.
On this occasion, he conveyed a message of diversity and the importance of attention to all religious communities in Jakarta.
"The Jakarta Government provides attention and support to all religious communities," he emphasized.
Rano noted that the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB), which includes representatives from various religious groups, offers guidance to the government in promoting tolerance and meeting the diverse needs of Jakarta's religious communities.
"We strongly support all cultural and religious activities in Jakarta. I am grateful that Jakarta residents today are showing extraordinary tolerance," he stated.
