Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, visited the Mookervart Water Treatment Plant (IPA) in Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng Sub-district, West Jakarta, Friday (5/9).

The water was indeed clean after drinking it

This Mookervart IPA processes water from the Mookervart River, which is contaminated with various waste, including domestic and industrial waste, into clean drinking water.

He was accompanied by Perumda PAM Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin, and witnessed the water treatment process at the Mookervart water treatment plant. He even dared to drink a full glass of the treated water.

"I did drink a full glass. At first, I was hesitant, but the water was indeed clean after drinking it," he expressed.

He also urged PAM Jaya to continue expanding clean water service coverage in Jakarta, especially in densely populated areas, through the construction of water treatment plants. This is because densely populated areas like West Jakarta face unique challenges in providing clean water compared to other regions.

The coverage of clean water in all of Jakarta has only reached 71 percent.

"Hence, I specifically ask Mr. Director to make improvements and also prepare accordingly. Because whatever is related to water is very strategic," he explained.

To achieve the target of 100 percent clean water coverage by 2029, he urged PAM Jaya to take steps towards strategic partnership or an Initial Public Offering (IPO). However, he emphasized that the stages should be well prepared.

He believed that increasing the number of customers could make PAM Jaya a very strong company. Moreover, the Jakarta Government would seriously improve the quality of drinking water services.

"Hopefully, we can soon find places like those in the Mookervart River. Thus, we can do the process like we did earlier," he added.

Perumda PAM Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin uttered PAM Jaya collaborated with the Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA) to build the Mookervart IPA artificial lake for water sedimentation.

Next, the water is processed using Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology until it is safe for consumption.

He added the clean water produced has been distributed to houses and apartments in the surrounding area. Thus far, they have served about 500 household connections and will continue to develop to strengthen the supply of clean water in West Jakarta.

"So, this has already covered several home connections, there are also communities and apartments. The number is indeed not large yet, around almost 500 connections," he stated.
