Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced plans to open five new Transjabodetabek routes within the next one to two weeks.
"Next week or the week after, I will inaugurated two new routes,"
This initiative is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to address traffic congestion issues in Jakarta.
"For the five routes we've mentioned, next week or the week after, I will inaugurated two new routes," he said at CP202 project site, Harmoni Station, Central Jakarta, on Friday (5/9).
These additional routes are expected to expand the reach of Transjabodetabek services, offering more affordable public transportation options, and reducing people's reliance on private vehicles.
"Thus, the issue of traffic congestion in Jakarta can be addressed seriously and gradually by the Jakarta Government," he said.
Pramono emphasized that the city government is serious in tackling traffic problems. One of the efforts is by providing free public transportation services for 15 categories of residents.
This free service will also be extended to Transjabodetabek public transportation. Pramono mentioned that free transportation is also planned for residents of Bodetabek (Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) who commute to Jakarta.
"In the long term, once Transjabodetabek is operational, not only Jakartans but also residents from surrounding areas commuting to Jakarta will be eligible for free transportation," he stated.
