Jakarta City Council's Commission A Vice Chairwoman, Alia Noorayu Laksono supports Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's diploma clearance program. She admitted that there are still people whose diplomas are withheld by the school.

The program is good

"The program is good. I often met people with similar case while I visited them," she said, Thursday (5/1).

According to Alia, financial is the main reason why residents are unable to redeem their school diplomas. In fact, a diploma is proof of graduation and the main requirement in getting formal employment.

"No job means they can not make money to get their diploma. And no diploma means they can not get a job. This is a cycle that keeps repeating itself," she added.

Alia also encourages Jakarta Provincial Government to provide free school for students in Jakarta.

"We support free school as future mitigation. It means budget allocation must also be prepared to avoid similar problem to appear again," she continued.

Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the diploma clearance program will be run in stages due to the complexity of the data and the involvement of many parties, such as individuals, schools, and data administrations.

Diploma clearance requires a data verification process and cross-party coordination, so it takes longer. The program is different from the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) program which can be distributed immediately after the decision is taken.

The first stage of this program has been completed by spending budget Rp 500 million. Then the second stages to be run on May 2 after commemorating the National Education Day.
