South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) personnel are elevating the Ciliwung River's retaining wall on Jalan Bina Warga, Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran Sub-district. The work is targeted to be completed next month.

It aims to anticipate flooding in the residential area

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Field Coordinator, Esai said the retaining wall was elevated by installing the 100-meter-long gabion to prevent the Ciliwung River from overflowing during high water levels.

"It aims to anticipate flooding in the residential area," he expressed, Tuesday (4/22).

He explained the work involved eight personnel to minimize water overflow.

"This work has been ongoing since February 2025 and has touched 50 percent," he explained.

He hoped that this could hold back the overflow of water from the upstream of the Ciliwung River and prevent flooding, especially in RW 07, Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran Sub-district.

"The gabion has been installed and followed by pouring to avoid water seepage," he explained.

The action received appreciation from one of the locals, Ferdian (39).

"Hopefully, it can minimize flooding, specially in RW 07," he hoped.
