The residents of Kampung Pengarengan RT 03/12 Jatinegara Urban Village, Cakung, East Jakarta extinguished fire on a rent house, Friday (2/7).

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria admitted the quick fire handling by residents showed that the fire handling training program is successful.

"Residents' response was quick to handle fire. Thankfully it did not spread to other houses," he admitted.

Muchtar explained that the fire started with an explosion sound from the rented house ceiling. Then thick smoke filled the room.

"Luckily local residents handled it quickly," he explained.

Furthermore, his side deployed two firetrucks with six personnel at 13:20 when the fire was already off.

"We appreciate the residents' response," he stated.
