Johar Baru Sub-district Health Center (Puskesmas) conducted Human Papillomavirus (HPV) immunization program from Monday (1/20) to Wednesday (2/5) by targeting 365 junior high school female students in 10 schools.

"This immunization provides long-term protection for reproductive health,"

Johar Baru Sub-district Health Center Head, Arief Wahyudhi mentioned, this program targets 15-year-old female students who have not received HPV vaccines in Jakarta.

"This immunization is given as a preventive measure against cervical cancer. It is very important to raise awareness and protect future generations from the risk of preventable diseases," he conveyed, Thursday (1/23).

HPV immunization, he added, could prevent infections that have the potential to develop into cervical cancer. For information, cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women.

"This immunization provides long-term protection for reproductive health," he stated.

Acccording to him, HPV immunization will be carried out in stages by visiting schools, such as at SMP Paskalis, SMP YWPM, SMPN 156, SMPN 76, SMP PGRI Johar Baru, and SMP Aljihad Johar Baru.

"Based on initial data, there are around 365 female students in 9th and 10th grades who will be vaccinated. We will also check their health regularly," he said.

Amanda, a teacher at Paskalis Junior High School, Tanah Tinggi Urban Village, appreciated the HPV vaccination program carried out at her school on Tuesday (1/21) with a total of 14 female students vaccinated.

"This vaccination is a good anticipatory step to minimize the risk of our girls getting cervical cancer," she expressed.
