The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has announced bad weather forces boat services that travel to and from Seribu Islands on December 5, 2024.

Safety is the top priority

As quoted by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Maritime Meteorology Station Tanjung Priok, strong winds were detected at speeds of 8 - 25 knots accompanied by light rain in Muara Angke - Seribu Islands crossing area from December 4 to 5, 2024.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo said the boat service was suspended temporarily to ensure the safety of sea transportation and support the safety of all residents and tourists traveling to and from Seribu Islands.

"Based on BMKG information, unfriendly weather conditions could endanger shipping activities. The Muara Angke Class IV Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) also recommended postponing the Dishub boat's active shipping until the weather becomes conducive again. Therefore, its services for this route have been temporarily suspended," he expressed, Thursday (12/5).

His party also urged the public to keep monitoring developments in weather information and rearrange their travel schedules.

As for the information, Dishub has official information channels through social media and websites.

"We call on the public, especially those planning to travel to Seribu Islands, to cancel your travel until the weather improves. Safety is the top priority,” he asserted.
