Jakarta Provincial Government is about to move residents living under the bridge and toll road to several flats.
Based on the data, 1,054 families spread in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta to be moved to decent residence.
Jakarta Housing and Settlement Agency Head, Kelik Indriyanto said this effort aims to improve Jakarta residents quality of life while organizing urban areas.
"Mayors have collected location data and ready to visit residents living under the bridge for relocation approach," he said, Friday (11/29).
Kelik added that Jakarta Provincial Government commits to provide decent housing for underprivileged communities in Jakarta through Rusunawa.
"The relocated residents are still subjected to pay electricity and water. This effort is in line with vision's of Housing Ministry to provide decent residence for underprivileged," he added.
Not only providing housing, he continued, Jakarta Provincial Government will also give skills training. The program will involve related Regional Working Unit to make sure relocated residents getting better quality of life and job.
The housing program for residents living under the bridge and toll road is also part of Jakarta's steps heading to a global city. Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting no more residents living under bridge and toll road.
"Housing under toll road and bridge must be empty. That's our target. We want to ensure that residents can live more decently while improving city planning," he continued.
According to him, the relocation program is targeted to complete by the end of December 2024, based on Housing Ministry's direction.
The 1,054 families to be relocated to flat are spread in Central Jakarta by 92 families, North Jakarta 822 families, West Jakarta 139 families and East Jakarta one family.

- Kelapa Gading by 2 families
- Cakung Barat Blok by 5 families

Residents living under Jalan Inspeksi Kanal Barat Toll Road (139 families) to be relocated to four flats;
