An electrical short circuit is suspected to be the trigger for the fire in the residential area on Jalan Papanggo 3B, RT 12/05, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta, Friday (11/8) early this morning.

The fire was extinguished within an hour of the incident

In this incident, a family consisting of four people died.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Rahmat Kristantio stated his party received a fire report at 1.41 AM from residents who came to report to the Papanggo Fire Post.

To handle it, as many as 3 fire engines and 70 firefighters were deployed to the scene. The first personnel arrived at 1.55 AM and the fire was already growing.

They managed to handle it within 8 minutes, precisely at 3.34 AM.

"The fire was extinguished within an hour of the incident," he added.

Fire and Rescue Operational Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman explained the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. Then the fire grew and spread to another building in the vicinity.

As a result, one house and two rented houses were burned down and a family consisting of four people died.

"The victims were in a room on the second floor. They wanted to jump out but the fire had gotten bigger and they were trapped," he closed.
