Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) held a Technical Guidance for Tourism Industry Development at Bellezza Suites Hotel, South Jakarta.

As a global city, Jakarta is expected to follow this trend

It aims to discuss various important aspects of developing the SPA wellness industry, by exploring existing potential, strengthening collaboration between multiple stakeholders, and preparing to face future challenges and opportunities.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economic Agency Head, Andhika Permata said Jakarta is focused on developing the tourism industry, especially SPA sector.

According to him, significant changes in global community consumption patterns, including in Indonesia, which is currently occurring towards leisure, tourism, and spa recreation products could be an opportunity for Jakarta tourism.

"As a global city, Jakarta is expected to follow this trend by adopting a wellness tourism approach that emphasizes health, relaxation, and a healthy lifestyle,” he explained, Wednesday (10/2).

He explained integrating the concepts of green tourism and wellness tourism was an effective strategy to increase the number of tourist visits. He assessed, combining these two concepts allows for the creation of a tourism attraction that is not only environmentally friendly but also focuses on the health and well-being of individuals.

“By embracing these two concepts, Jakarta can increase tourism attractiveness, making it a top choice for domestic and international travelers seeking a sustainable and healthy experience,” he added.

Minister for Maritime Economy Staff, Sugeng Santoso highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism in creating a balance between economy, ecology, and culture.

"Sustainable tourism is tourism that contributes to the welfare of communities and business actors, meets the needs of visitors, preserves noble cultural values, and improves ecological quality," he uttered.

Wellskin Pillar Association Chairperson, Annie Savitri emphasized that developing green jobs is an important step in realizing sustainable tourism. Hopefully, it could contribute to the environment while increasing the competitiveness of tourism industry players in Jakarta.

"One of the goals of developing green jobs is to create quality, productive, and competitive human resources who can carry out low-carbon development," he explained.

Wellwist Group Builder, Edi Alpino Rivai Siregar explained that Wellness Tourism continues to grow rapidly globally providing significant economic benefits to urban and regional areas, as well as improving the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of visitors.

PT Naluri Hidup Indonesia's Care Delivery Head, Fatimah Muthahirah completed the discussion by explaining the importance of holistic well-being in the tourism industry.

He added Wellbeing can be built through healthy habits from eight aspects of wellness, namely emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, work, and social aspects. Each of these aspects is interrelated and needs to be implemented in the tourism sector to create a balanced and sustainable tourism ecosystem.
