Personnel from North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) managed to put out the alang-alang grass fire next to MTSN 26 Pulau Tidung, Jalan Kampung Baru, RT 01/03, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman stated the fire that occurred on Thursday (9/26) at around 6 PM was suspected to have been caused by a burning cigarette butt that was carelessly thrown away.

"We deploy six personnel to the scene," he expressed, Friday (9/27).

He explained the area of ​​the burning alang-alang grass was 1,000 square meters.

The extinguishing process was completed in less than two hours.

"Everything goes smoothly," he explained.

He urged residents and tourists not to throw cigarette butts carelessly because they could trigger fires.

"We all have to be careful and be able to do early fire prevention," he added.

The appreciation came from one of the residents feom Tidung Island, Fatoni.

"When I came home from fishing, I saw smoke coming from a distance. When I approached it, the fire was already big. I immediately contacted the personnel," he said.
