The Jakarta Security Food, Maritime and Agricultural Agency (KPKP) has intensified health checks on qurban animals in shelters spread across five city areas ahead of Idul Adha 1445 Hijri/2024 AD.
Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati said inspection teams in five sub-agencies have been holding health checks on qurban animals in shelters, since May 1, 2024.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), they are in healthy condition," she expressed, Wednesday (5/29).
According to her, several qurban animals from outside the area who had entered shelters in five areas of Jakarta were stressed and could not stand due to the long trip in hot weather conditions.
"We immediately treat them by giving them vitamins. Others experienced eye pain, but to date, there have been no cases of qurban animals infected with anthrax," she explained.
She explained her agency was synergizing with the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI), and the private sector and would also supervise the slaughter of qurban animals on Idul Adha 1445 Hijri.
"The integrated team will carry out supervision to ensure that the animals being slaughtered are healthy and safe for consumption," she explained.
According to her, most came from Central Java and East Java, and others came from Lampung.
She also urged Jakarta residents to pay attention to the condition of the qurban animal that will be purchased according to Islamic law.
"We can do an independent examination before purchasing a qurban animal by checking the body, fur color, body temperature, and whether there is mucus or snot. As well as requesting a health certificate for the animal from the area of origin," she closed.
