Heru Witnesses Signing of Seven Cooperation Documents for MRT Jakarta Project

Attending the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Investment Forum in Tokyo on April 24-26, 2024, the Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono witnessed the signing of seven cooperation documents for the Jakarta MRT project.

Jakarta will have the opportunity to improve itself

The signing of this project has a total value amounting to Rp 11 trillion with several parties, both from Indonesia and Japan, regarding investment potential and partnerships and cooperation in developing transit-oriented areas, including land development and building interconnection. Aside that it includes the potential for cooperation in strategic studies of business growth in transit-oriented areas in Jakarta.

The seven working documents are two Head of Agreements (HoA), four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), and one Minutes of Discussion with various parties for the development of MRT Jakarta transportation. The two HoAs signed consisted of the realization of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck with Hankyu Hanshin Properties and Mitsubishi Jisho Design, as well as Blok M Mixed-Use with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur.

Aside that, PT MRT Jakarta also signed four memorandums of understanding, namely with PT Wisma Nusantara Internasional regarding the development of the Bundaran HI area, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk regarding Regional Development and Construction of the Phase 2 MRT Jakarta Depot, Perumda PAL Jaya regarding the development of the West Setiabudi Reservoir, and JR East regarding retail business development at the North-South MRT Jakarta line station. Meanwhile, the signing of Minutes of Discussion was carried out with Urban Renaissance regarding Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck.

He appreciated the support given to the TOD Investment Forum, thus this activity could be conducted for the second time. This forum was very important, because development in terms of infrastructure, transportation, and urban development was realized to prepare Jakarta as a global city and economic center after the capital city was moved to the archipelago. Jakarta would focus on attracting international attention in the fields of tourism and MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition).

"After the Government moves completely to IKN Nusantara, there will be many idle assets from ex-Government buildings in Jakarta that can be used. Jakarta will have the opportunity to improve itself in terms of urban design. One of them is developing TOD projects in the city center through the MRT Jakarta," he expressed.

At the same occasion, the Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi said, since the operation of MRT Jakarta in 2019, PT MRT Jakarta has played an important role in forming an efficient public transportation system in Jakarta and encouraging the use of sustainable transportation modes.

"In relation to this forum, TOD development around MRT stations will offer unique investment and innovation opportunities. By integrating the transportation network, TOD won't only improve connectivity and accessibility, but also improve the welfare of Jakarta residents and Jakarta's economic growth," he explained.

PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Tuhiyat explained the TOD Investment Forum is an effort made by his party to encourage cooperation and collaboration with various parties in developing areas in Jakarta into areas that provide comfort and a better quality of life for the community. Besides that, it aimed to provide more efficient and effective choices for residents in moving from one point to their destination.

The TOD Investment Forum in Tokyo, which was held on April 24-26, 2024 at the Embassy Building for Japan, was held in collaboration with PT MRT Jakarta, Indonesian Embassy to Japan, Transportation Ministry, Japanese Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry, and PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol.

He added  around 50 Japanese companies and nine Indonesian companies were present as invited guests. From representatives of Japanese government agencies, consultants, to property and real estate companies were present at the second TOD Investment Forum in Japan.

It was also attended by Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi: Parliamentary Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism of Japan, Ishibashi Rintaro; Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Heri Akhmadi; and Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono.
