Alhamdulillah (thank God), we were able to exceed the target from the previous year

The blood donation action which took place from March 25 to 28, 2024, at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, succeeded in collecting 4,537 bags of blood. As a results, this result was recorded in the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as 'Most Blood Donations in the Month of Ramadan'.

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim, appreciated the synergy that exists between the City Government and North Jakarta PMI, as well as several private agencies and the community who have supported this blood donation.

"This is an extraordinary achievement. I would like to thank the people who have donated a drop of blood," he said, Saturday (3/30).

He added the role of the private sector through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs in this social action was very big. They provided basic food packages and prizes for Umrah or religious tours for donors who have done it 150 times.

"Activities like this need to be held again, because the community's initiation and interest in donating blood decreases in Ramadan," he expressed.

North Jakarta PMI Chairman, Rijal, explained that in this activity, which carried the theme 'Ramadan Blessings for Humanitarian Action', there were 5,390 registrants. Of that number, 4,357 donated their blood.

Of 4,357 bags collected, there were 1,677 for blood type O. Then, blood type A was 1,209 bags and blood type B was 1,294 bags, and blood type AB was 357 bags.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), we were able to exceed the target from the previous year. Hopefully, this blood donation can fill blood stocks during this Ramadan," he added.

Bersatu Teguh Association Chairman, Andreas Sofiandi stated there were five donors who had succeeded in receiving the Umrah prize which would depart next June, precisely before Idul Adha.

"We will send those who succeed to the holy land, and we also give one quota to PMI volunteers who have been on duty for the past four days. Hopefully, this prize can encourage people to donate blood," he hoped.
