The Pasar Minggu Sub-district's Water Agency Waste Management Unit, South Jakarta processes wood waste from rivers or streams into beautiful furniture items of economic value.

We utilize big-sized wood waste

Pasar Minggu Sub-district UPS Field Coordinator, Arifat Arhab said his party had been working on utilizing wood waste from rivers for the past year.

"We utilize big-sized wood waste that comes from tamarind, mahogany, and jackfruit trees in streams and rivers," he expressed, Friday (12/1).

He explained processing wood waste into furniture requires quite a long process. The initial stage is that the wood waste is cut and then shaped in such a way as needed.

Afterward, the bark is peeled and cleaned, then sanded and put together to form chairs, tables, and others.

The final step is the wood waste that has been formed is painted with varnish to look shinier and last longer.

"The process can take five to one week. The selling price ranges from Rp 200,000 to Rp 1 million," he explained.

He hoped that residents could participate in utilizing wood waste into economically valuable goods to help reduce the volume of waste.

"We want residents to start processing waste into something useful," he stressed. he stated.
