1,000 Coconut Trees on Sabira Island Planted

As many as 1,000 green coconut trees were planted in the coastal area of Sabira Island, North Seribu Islands, Seribu Islands. It aims to commemorate the National Tree Planting Day, which falls on November 28.

This is a collective momentum to maintain the beauty of the environment

Harapan Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Yusuf said the tree planting activity is a form of concern for reforestation and preserving nature, as well as supporting the Blue Sky program in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

"This is a collective momentum to maintain the beauty of the environment," he expressed, Friday (12/1).

According to him, it was focused on the Jaga Utara RPTRA on Sabira Island and the entire coast. Those trees were donated by South East Sumatra Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore (PHE OSES).

"Planting and caring for these trees has many benefits, both for the sustainability of the environment and for our future generations to visit here," he explained.

Sabira Island Karang Taruna Youth Organization Chairman, Gunawan thanked everyone who had helped coconut trees to be planted in his region.

Coconut trees were chosen, as they are synonymous with beaches and islands. Moreover, it has many benefits ranging from roots, stems, leaves to fruit.

"Coconut trees are also useful for fishermen making rumpon (artificial reefs)," he stated.
