The Istana Berkebaya event which was held at Merdeka Palace on Sunday (8/6) went lively.

The kebaya symbolizes the character of the Indonesian people who are graceful, gentle, polite, and modest

The event, which was realized in collaboration between Jakarta Provincial Government and State Secretariat Ministry, was attended by President, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and his wife, Iriana Jokowi and Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin and his wife, Wury Estu Handayani.

Today's event was even more lively with a fashion show for inspiring heroines and women in the Ministry and Jakarta Government on a 200-meter-long runway. In addition, the performance of Bunga Citra Lestari added to the splendor of the event.

"The kebaya symbolizes the character of the Indonesian people who are graceful, gentle, polite, and modest," expressed the President  when he opened the event.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono stated that it is a series of Indonesia Independence Day's 78th anniversary. It had been started with national dhikr and prayer, as well as the biggest angklung performance which took place lively last Saturday (8/5).

He expressed his appreciation for the trust given by State Secretariat Ministey to Jakarta Government to work together to carry out this event.

"I congratulate the ladies of OASE for breaking the Guinness World Records yesterday. Today, we continue with the same enthusiasm to celebrate the beauty and cultural diversity of the Indonesian nation through the kebaya fashion show," he added.

He said the event itself invited the public to love and preserve Indonesian culture and knit unity and oneness as a solid foundation for the progress of the nation. It was in line with the spirit of the theme of the Indonesian Independence anniversary, which is Terus Melaju untuk Indonesia Maju (Keep Moving Forward for an Advanced Indonesia).

He added it could maintain unity, preserve cultural diversity, and encourage Indonesia's progress.

"The fashion show on this day is very special because it involves inspiring women from society. Starting from OASE and the Minister of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet. Wives of ambassadors, female officials and employees within the cabinet, and the Jakarta Government," he uttered.

It was realized bybcooperating with the organizers of Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) to make this event a success, one of which was as a guide during the kebaya fashion show.

And also kebaya craftsmen in Jakarta for clothes to be worn later, such as Syafitri Gallery, Kebaya Nyonya Baba, and Roemah Kebaya.
