The Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) continues to finalize preparations to welcome Idul Adha 1444 Hijri. There are already 59 shelters in Jakarta with a total of 5,400 qurban animals as of June 12, 2023.

There will still be more until June 28-29, 2023

In the near future, around 15,400 qurban animals will be re-entered from supply areas to Jakarta. It is because the KPKP Agency has received letters of application from 99 suppliers to distribute qurban animals to traders ahead of Idul Adha.

"There will still be more until June 28-29, 2023. The technical proposal is currently at around 99 with a total of 15,000 animals," expressed Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati, Wednesday (6/15).

She explained the Jakarta Provincial Government had held internal meetings and coordinated with areas that supply qurban animals regarding matters that livestock owners need to pay attention to. This step was taken to ensure that those animals sent to Jakarta are suitable for sacrifice or according to Islamic law.

"We're committed to supplying areas for qurban animals that enter Jakarta must undergo  which are pre-screened there. There must be a letter of recommendation that the animals to be brought to Jakarta are in good health. There is an animal health certificate issued from the local area, as there is already a National Animal Health Information System (ISIKHNAS) from the Ministry of Agriculture," she expressed.

She added the officers would re-check the validity of the documents and the health of the animals arriving in Jakarta at each shelter. As many as 113 officers had been deployed so far. Examination is no longer by the sampling method, but per head and it has been imposed since last year.

"Like cow, there is an eartag on which is printed a barcode, you can immediately find out which cow has been vaccinated or not. Currently, there are three diseases to watch out for during Idul Adha, namely anthrax, PMK, and LSD. It is currently still in the process of LSD vaccination. We require supply areas to be LSD free," she closed.
