Empty land on Tidung Kecil Island, Tidung Island, South Seribu Islands, Seribu Islands is transformed into as an urban farming.

This land will be managed by farmer groups on Tidung Island

Seribu Islands Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security Sub-agency Head, Devi Lidya said the two-hectare land is being used as urban farming by planting various types of productive plants.

"This land will be managed by farmer groups on Tidung Island. We do it to achieve food security," he expressed, Thursday (5/25).

He mentioned the plants planted in the location varied from eggplant, spinach, kale, and chili. Aside that, there were also productive trees such as guava, breadfruit, banana, coconut, papaya, watermelon, and yellow melon.

"I also want to make Tidung Kecil Island a place for urban farming education," he uttered.

In developing urban farming, his party is coordinating with urban villages so they can invite residents to tend the land.

"We will distribute the harvest to the caretakers and residents in need," he said.
